I was so excited when I was approached by one of the RAW Artist creative organizers. It was such an experience to show at a group art show. There were plenty of different artists (musicians, puppet makers, photographers, painters, graphic artists, models, fashion designers, jewelry designers, makeup artists… etc) I wanted to stand out and show everyone that photography does not need to be boring or simple. Before you look at a photo, you want to be drawn to it first. So I decided to make my booth a warm and inviting area that was unique. I bought white streamers and hand dyed them light pink. It took forever to dry and tie each string onto a rope. Setting up the booth was only one of the most challenging setups I’ve done. I had to use an 8’ ladder so I can reach the top of the wall and cover it with kraft paper (it was up and down repeatedly as I taped and position and added the streamers). I gave out candy packed by tulle and a business card. I had a vision and I mastered it. Going home sore was just an extra perk :)
It was so great to see all my friends get together for a mini reunion! We all went to high school together and marched in band. Felt like good old days again. :)
Some happenings at the show… there was a videographer who documented everyone’s showcase. Also next to me was the sweetest gal who started Pot of Honey. She was inspired by a ring she bought from a farmer’s market and makes vintage button rings and earrings!
There were band performances, dance performances, and a runway show. I only had the chance to take a couple photos. There were certainly more participants! First photo below is a shot to my booth and my friends waving! Woo!
